let go to grow
Quote by Rumi

Do you often find yourself contemplating things out of your reach? Or do you find yourself shadowed under the burden of your own thoughts? You must have often heard this quote, “Life is a balance between holding on and letting go.”

The way we have to let go of our fear to build courage, let go of our comfort to evolve and grow, let go of our apprehension to sprout confidence—in a similar way, we have to let go of ‘what happened’ to live ‘what’s next’. Words, people, actions, and places have attached feelings and emotions. And when the harsh waves of emotions hit the vulnerable shore, we tend to be swept away and get dragged into the deep ocean of thoughts and feelings. And those thoughts carry the ability to make or break us.

May it be a small fight, unintended mistakes, bitter words, insensitive remarks, or hurtful gestures—we carry along. We carry along for so long that the friction of their weight instigates resistance to our growth. It is well said that one cannot fly free carrying the weight and burden of literally everything. To live with happiness and contentment, we need to let go of everything which weighs us down, which makes us question or doubt ourselves, everything which keeps nagging and bothering, everything that makes us distressed and dejected.

It might be the overwhelming past or silent grudges you are holding onto. Or it might be others’ perceptions and opinions about you which bother. It might be harsh words or adamant ego, or it might be irrational and unrealistic self-created expectations or images of yourself which remain unfulfilled and end up in a loop of thoughts. At the end, the pain, guilt, regret, or resentment which we have been holding onto turns into a shell—a home consumed by negativity and sadness. It eventually starts draining out our energy, radiance, joy, happiness, and our ability to hold onto things which actually matter.

In Part 2 of the blog we will explore some ways which will make letting go a bit easier and life a bit happier!
